Grand Rapids Kennel Club is an all-breed dog club, and a member of the American Kennel Club dedicated to serving the needs of purebred dog owners by developing positive and rewarding relationships with their dogs. The club's goal is to protect and advance the interest of dog shows and obedience trials and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at such events. Grand Rapids Kennel Club also endeavors to provide resources and additional information to the general public related to the health and training needs of their dogs.

 

GRKC members are dedicated to dogs and have an abundance of experience and knowledge in training dogs to be companions, canine good citizens, and successful participants in American Kennel Club events.

 

GRKC OBJECTIVES

  • To further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs;

  • To encourage and support dog shows and obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club;

  • To provide educational topics of interest to people that are fond of dogs;

  • To support responsible dog ownership, training of all dogs for competition and Canine Good Citizenship;

  • To encourage sportsmanlike competition and uphold the Code of Ethics of the club;

  • To advance the best interests of the dog and dog fancier in all matters.

GRKC meetings and other events can be found on the events calendar. Guests are welcome at any regular club meeting.

 

Interested in getting a pure-bred puppy?  Be an informed buyer.  We offer a responsible breeder locator service to help you find the perfect addition to your family.  Remember, a puppy is for life.  Our breeder contact person can answer your questions and help you find local breeders for your breed of choice. Additional information on locating a breeder can be found on theAmerican Kennel Club website.

DNA samples from purebred dogs to assist with research. 

The dog's date of birth, AKC Registration number, breed and owner information are required to participate.

 

 

*Samples from Toy Breeds will be taken as a cheek swab

*Samples from larger breeds will be taken as a blood sample

*Samples will be collected by Dr. Roe Froman of the VanAndel Institute. 

 

 

If you want to donate blood, a kit can be sent to you with instructions for blood collection samples to be mailed to the VanAndel Institute.
